GITEC Summit Awards

We are excited to announce the 2018 GITEC Awards. Reflecting the focus topics of the 2018 GITEC Summit, the below categories will highlight innovative solutions offered by government and industry teams and individuals that move us towards a positive technological future for our federal government. Nominations will be open in January and close on February 23, 2018.
 
The award recipients will be announced during lunch on Monday, April 23 at the 2018 GITEC Summit.

CLOUD AND SHARED SERVICES
The “Cloud and Shared Services” Award will be presented to the federal governmenam that has demonstrated innovation and cost savings in the implementation of cloud and/or shared services to improve service delivery. Award applicants will be evaluated in the following areas:
 
  1. Problem Solver: Demonstrated improvement in how the solution contributed to the delivery of the mission.​ What business problem did your solution solve? What improvements to mission delivery did you achieve? (Please include data and anecdotes from customers that support your success. Limit 1000 characters.) 
  2. Innovation: Demonstrated new, resourceful and innovative approach to implementation.​ In what unique, imaginative way did your team approach the implementation of this new service throughout the organization? (Limit 1000 characters.)
  3. Creativity: Contributed to the ability of your organization to successfully fulfill its mission to the public or service of the government. Demonstrated creative and innovative techniques to remove roadblocks to success. What was the biggest challenge you faced in implementing your solution and how did you solve it? (Limit 1000 characters.)
  4. Impact: Contributed to the ability of your organization to successfully fulfill its mission to the public or service of the government. What significance and implications does your solution have for your organization, and the future?  Demonstrate what effect your team provided to improvement, including cost savings, productivity increases, and/or new services. (Include examples. Limit 1000 characters.)
 
FUTURE TRENDS
The "Future Trends" Team Award will be presented to a federal government group who have demonstrated leadership and management expertise in the field of innovation and future trends. Award applicants will be evaluated in the following areas:
  
  1. Contribution to Government Innovation: Provided leadership and management in solving government issues through unique and innovative solutions. What contribution did your team provide to your organization or the Federal Government that significantly improved products, services or operations?  (Include examples. Limit 1000 characters.) 
  2. Creativity: Demonstrated creative and innovative techniques for resourceful and innovative acquisition practices or processes. What new techniques or technology was used to achieve outstanding results? (Include examples)
  3. Impact: Contributed to the ability of your organization to successfully fulfill its mission to the public or service of the government.  Demonstrate what effect your team provided to improvement, including cost savings, productivity increases, and/or new services. (Include examples)
  4. Partnership: Actively collaborated with other organizations including non-government entities to achieve outstanding results. How did the team collaborate with other experts in the field to achieve the results; how was the partnership beneficial to both organizations?  (Include examples)
 
CYBERSECURITY
The “Excellence in Cybersecurity” Award is designed to recognize the individual who best exemplifies excellence in government cybersecurity through his/her contributions to programs that protect critical data and systems. The awards will also recognize a thought leaders who has developed and operationalized innovative strategies or programs to address government cybersecurity challenges. Award applicants will be evaluated in the following areas:
 
  1. Innovative Leadership: ​How has the candidate led their team through innovative approaches? How have the approaches positively impacted the mission? (Limit 1000 characters.)
  2. Cyber Contributions: How has the candidate greatly contributed to cybersecurity programs that protect critical government data and systems? (Limit 1000 characters.)
  3. Program Creativity and Management: How has the candidate developed and implemented innovative strategies and/or programs to address the challenges faced in the government cybersecurity field? (Limit 1000 characters.)
  4. Innovation: How has the candidate proven to be on the cutting edge of information and technology applicable to his/her field? (Limit 1000 characters.)
 
ACQUISITIONS
The "Excellence in Acquisition" Team Award will be presented to a federal government group who have demonstrated leadership and management expertise in the field of federal IT acquisition. Award applicants will be evaluated in the following areas:
 
  1. Contribution to Mission Outcomes: Provided acquisition solutions that significantly contributed to the operational mission of the Agency. What did your IT acquisition team do to enable your organization improve on its delivery of mission services/results? (Please include data and anecdotes from customers that support your success.) 
  2. Creativity: Demonstrated new, resourceful and innovative acquisition practices or processes. In what unique, imaginative way did the team successfully plan and execute a major system acquisition, saving budget and delivering lasting mission enhancing capabilities?
  3. High-Impact: Contributed to the success of a major acquisition that had a positive effect on the mission in terms of cost or value. What positive and lasting impact did this team have on the organization and those around him/her? (Include examples)
  4. Partnership: Actively collaborated with other organizations to deliver acquisition value. How did the team use effective acquisition partnering to solve inter- and intra-organizational challenges, such as project dependencies, across organizational and/or functional boundaries?   
 
LEADERSHIP
The "Leadership" Award will be given to both the industry and government partners who demonstrate an outstanding ability to guide and inspire others, which in turn improves the federal IT sector. Judged on mentoring success, his or her impact on others, the ability to act as an agent of change, and helping to transform the culture of an organization.  Award applicants will be evaluated in the following areas: 
 
  1. Description of overall general leadership capabilities and traits of this individual.
  2. How does this person embody leadership through the mentoring of others? 
  3. How does this person actively promote and develop others? 
  4. What is the breadth of impact and legacy of this person's actions?
  5. What revolution or transformation did this person lead and what was the outcome? 
  6. What are three adjectives you would use to describe the personality, character or persona of the nominee?
