'Twas the Night Before the Winter Gala
'Twas the night before the Winter Gala, when all through DC
Not an attendee was stirring, not even industry
The invites were placed by the door with care,
in hopes that the Winter Gala soon would be there.
With 2015 attendees like RADM Norton, BG Taylor, and BGen Crall-Oh my!
So many stars - it looks like the glistening night sky
I wonder who will be attending this year
I need to get my invitation-sending behind in gear
Not to forget our private sector friends
as they are the ones with funds to spend!

Look at the sponsors already involved:
AT&T, Ciena, Cisco – but that’s not all!
Where or where could the others be?
CenturyLink, SAS and GDIT?

Here comes the next day with a chill, cold like the arctic
I walk up the National Museum of Women in the Arts red carpet,
The smell of apple cider filling the air
So giddy and happy to soon be in there
When out down the way arose such a clatter,
The Windows Catering gala chef cooking a delicious platter.
Tasty and Savory and sweet galore,
But don’t you forget the beautiful décor
With shimmering trees and holly berries
The vision could not be any more merry,
Winter shop windows so elegant to the eye
however hard it will be to say goodbye.

I approach the bar to pour a spirit of good cheer,
this event is even better than the one from last year.

And then, in a twinkling, stood a man in a suit,
all they way from his head, down to his foot
Trimmed in red with gold medals on his chest,
nothing better than the Marine Corps best
He packed the toys away on his big red sleigh
In hopes they would make a kid smile one day
As I left, they handed me a tasty hot chocolate
waiting for our four wheeled sleigh
but the greatest gift of all on this cold winters day,
the celebratory 41st annual winter gala ornament
I go to bed tonight dreaming of next year’s gala
To forever continue this holiday tradition!
