From the beginning, the Trump administration has made federal IT modernization a top priority. But its modernization efforts, augmented by the Modernizing Government Technology (MGT) Act and supported by the Centers of Excellence initiative, is not about modernization for modernization’s sake. Instead, the administration sees the adoption of new technologies and new IT service models as essential to achieving its goals.
This event, the first in a three-month sprint focused on modernization, will look at the key IT issues that agencies must address as they modernize their underlying infrastructure. The discussion will look at tactical issues, such as the role of the cloud, modernization priorities, and funding strategies, as well as strategic issues—namely, how to translate modernization into enhanced mission effectiveness. Other potential topics to be addressed include:
- The current and future impact of the Centers of Excellence initiative
- The “real” impact of the MGT Act
- How the President's Management Agenda is changing the approach to modernization efforts
