Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Update

AFCEA Bethesda continues to monitor and assess new developments pertaining to the novel coronavirus through updates from the CDC and World Health Organization. The health and safety of our attendees, speakers and sponsors is our top priority. Due to growing concerns, AFCEA Bethesda has decided to move our March Breakfast to an online virtual format. There is much we are learning about this virus that we do not understand and therefore, we feel that the prudent thing to do is to err on the side of safety for our members, their families and of the greater community. This webinar will be FREE to attend. All attendee registration fees already paid will be applied to our next in-person breakfast event. If you are not yet registered, please sign up by clicking on the "Register" button above.

We are excited to offer this event as an online webinar. The virtual event will feature the same speakers and the same great content. If you have any questions regarding this change, please email registrar@afceabethesda.org.

Automation Transformation:

Leveraging a Data Strategy for AI/ML

Federal managers are looking to harness the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to derive actionable insights from data to improve mission delivery across government.  Before federal managers can develop AI/ML applications, they need good data and data practices. That’s why agencies must start their AI journey with a data first approach.  Many agencies struggle to establish a robust, integrated approach for using data to deliver on mission goals, serve customers, and steward resources. Leveraging automation is an essential first step in building a strong data layer.  Agencies need to automate processes to collect data from a variety of devices and systems, then automatically clean the data before building AI/ML models and algorithms that help derive value from data.

Federal decision makers are looking to deploy AI/ML to make positive changes in areas such as healthcare, natural disaster relief, citizen services and cybersecurity. For example, The Department of Transportation has built a machine-learning and data analytics-backed dashboard that helps its legal staff manage its vast field of regulatory data.

Long-term investment in AI/ML research and development should focus on developing systems that display the flexibility and versatility of human intelligences, as well as improve the safety and security of AI/ML systems so that they operate in a controlled, well-defined manner.

Join us March 19th as leading federal chief data officers and AI/ML experts participate in a townhall discussion on how federal agencies can harness the power of automation and AI/ML to position data as a strategic asset that can be used to increase the effectiveness of government.
