Modernization:

Leveraging the Cloud, DevOps, Low-Code, APIs and Emerging Technologies

Federal managers are looking for faster, more efficient and lower-risk approaches to IT modernization. Migrating to the cloud can allow agencies to move off aging systems, leverage larger volumes of data via advanced analytics and improve cybersecurity. At the same time, DevOps, a collaborative approach to the tasks performed by an agency’s application development and IT operations teams, is ushering in a new approach to cloud development, and seeks to speed up application development and lower costs. Low-code, another software development method, is being adopted by some federal agencies to modernize their customer-facing systems and can alleviate the need for highly trained developers manually writing code. Other emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence/machine learning and robotic process automation will be essential for federal IT modernization as agencies take a hybrid approach to migrating off the large number of legacy platforms still in use across the government.

Understanding how all these technologies and development approaches work together for a more efficient IT transformation can be a daunting task.  Join us April 21st as representatives from agencies that are leading the way in IT modernization discuss how they are applying these technologies as vehicles for modernization. Panelists will discuss their agency’s modernization strategy and initiatives, the challenges and opportunities they are facing in forging effective government-industry partnerships, as well as a look at how the IT modernization landscape will unfold over the next 12 months.

Throughout the year, we will be looking at technology, policy and workforce strategies for transforming agency operations. The final segment of our three-part series is focused on mondernization. This event is the first breakfast in the modernization series. The previous series looked at cybersecurity and automation.
