Cybersecurity: Securing the Digital World of IoT
The growth of smart technologies, mobile devices and cloud infrastructure have enabled agencies to gather data about their constituents, their enterprise and business applications as well as their mission, they couldn’t in the past to make smarter decisions. The rapid rise of the Internet of Things and increasingly interconnected networks brings a proliferation of security vulnerabilities, threats and risks. The future of the nation’s critical infrastructure and operations hinge on the development of an evolving sensor network and cloud backbone that require agencies to think and plan its network security and risk management. The Administration’s recent Executive Order, “Strengthening the Cybersecurity of Federal Networks and Critical Infrastructure,” highlights the significance of a major cyberattack against the connected electronic grid and the capabilities required to mitigate the consequences of such an incident. This session will present how to create a network security architecture, integrate security into a vendor-neutral IoT ecosystem and devices and apply analytics and endpoint security to improve the overall state of cybersecurity, meet compliance requirements and still deliver the benefits of IoT to its mission.

Mid-morning Keynote: IT as an Mission Enabler
As the Administration plans to cut spending at non-defense agencies by more than $1 trillion over the next 10 years, how will current and future programs be impacted? More than ever, agencies must use IT as a key mission enabler. This mid-morning keynote will feature a fireside chat with civilian agency chief information officers on what makes for a successful technology leader in this time of shrinking budgets? How do we turn the IT shop from a cost center to a value added, mission enabler?

Big Data: How to Scale the Enterprise and Improve the Mission
High-performance computing has fundamentally changed computing capabilities across data sciences and information security. It allows us to exchange information and respond to cyber threats at an incredible rate. The advances in big data and predictive analytics provide agencies with new ways to assemble, breakdown and understand data. From predicting changes in climate and weather and the nation’s food supply to enhancing research and cyber situational awareness, big data analytics can provide agencies with improved decision-making and citizen and enterprise services. This session will discuss the adoption of technology required to make big data (structured and unstructured) operational in a rapid, secure and scalable manner without putting strain on agencies’ existing IT storage, networking and computing infrastructure.

Government Roundtables: IT Modernization
The Modernizing Government Technology Act (MGTA) provides agencies an opportunity for rapid IT modernization. The passage of the bill would help agencies shift their IT operations and applications to the cloud, address security concerns with legacy systems and create a blueprint for increased performance, efficiency and cost savings. The government roundtables on IT modernization allow government, academia and industry attendees to talk one-on-one on how to create a roadmap to modernize agency IT environments such as the configuration and management of its network infrastructure, understanding the most common hardware and software requirements, the security of data, and changes in IT service and resource management.
