Roll the dice with AFCEA Bethesda, on Friday, October 26, at our annual, black-tie, premiere social event as we dive underground to a prohibition-style event. Imagine champagne towers, oysters and caviar dancing on your tongue as your body dances to the swing music played by the big jazz band. Hosted at the National Union Building in Washington, DC, we are switching things up with silent/live auctions on every floor and encouraging guests to network throughout the night!

With a different speakeasy-themed lounge on every floor, we can offer everyone something they will enjoy. Does a whiskey tasting whet your whistle? Check out the bar in the Bootleggers Welcome lounge. Interested in fun and games? Casino Royale, where we’ll have blackjack, craps, roulette, is for you if you’re the bettin’ type. If that isn’t enough to get your toes tapping, how about out-bidding government executives and industry professionals alike on silent and live auction items - Napa wineries? Casino excursions? Speakeasy date nights? Will you bid for the top item? It’s sure to be the bees knees. Flappers and gangsters welcome.

Fisher House Foundation

Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veterans families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital.

These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world.

Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room. Since inception, the program has saved military and veterans’ families an estimated $407 million in out of pocket costs for lodging and transportation.

The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created in recognition of the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community. It is the intent of the program that a scholarship funded through contributions be awarded annually for each commissary operated by the Defense Commissary Agency worldwide.

A total of 700 scholarship grants, each for $2,000, were awarded for school year 2018-19. There was at least one recipient selected at every commissary location where qualified applications were received, and additional recipients were selected based on a prorate basis, so more applicants were selected from those commissaries with larger numbers of applicants. *
